Doble Forza
The documentary film Doble Forza, shot in Spring 2006 in Cuba, is  
finally ready.
It is a personal diary through the everyday life and the history of  
Alamar, a new city built in the 1970s in the outskirts of La Habana,  
mostly with rudimental prefabricated technologies inherited from the  
Soviets. Alamar has been put in place through self-construction teams  
of 32 citizens employed in the so called microbrigadas: a system  
affecting not only the way the physical environment has been  
produced, but also the social texture formed in the process. Doble  
Forza has been shot in four weeks with a low budget; it is the pilot  
for a long-term exploration project called Re:centering Periphery.

Re-centering periphery
A reportage from the global urban periphery.
Modernism has been a dominant ideology in the architectural and  
planning field that influenced the urban explosion at a global scale  
during last century, affecting the way millions of people live their  
life in the periphery of contemporary cities. Modernist ideology has  
provided the first hardware set up for the incoming globalization  
process. On the other hand, a multitude of everyday practices is  
deployed by the inhabitants of the global periphery in the subtle,  
obstinate, creative effort of reshaping and re-appropriating such an  
hostile environment.
Our project is aimed at exploring diverse local incarnation of modern  
peripheries and at developing innovative forms of representations for  
their evolving landscape. After Cuba, further steps are foreseen in  
Berlin, Guang Zhou, Detroit, Manchester, Istambul, Beograd…
